2008 Vintage
Grape Variety: 100% Riesling Region: King Valley - Victoria Vintage 2008 A very good spring allowed for good flowering and fruit set also resulting in an even colouring at veraison. Vintage was around two weeks earlier than average. It was quite cool and mild during late December and early January which lead to maximum flavour development at lower sugar levels. 2008 was a good vintage for producing red varieties and early ripening whites.
Wine Making The Riesling 2008 comes from one of our young hillside vineyard blocks. The grapes were machine harvested at night, then crushed and de-stemmed and pressed lightly, providing delicacy and elegance to the wine. The wine was fermented using a selected yeast to enhance the lime and other citrus notes and palate structure of the wine. It was then cool fermented to retain freshness and varietal character.
Maturation Fermentation vessel: stainless steel Type of oak: nil used Fining agent: gelatine and isinglass Filtration: sterile pad filtration Tasting Notes The wine has a pale straw colouration, with lime reflections. The wine is elegant with intense floral notes of lime, orange blossom, and spices. The aromatics then develop into pear, grapefruit and candied orange notes. The palate is textural, round and crisp with soft acidity and a nice length.
