Fusta Nova 2009

D.O. Valencia

Grape Variety: 100% Moscatel de Alejandría

Region of Production: Valencia

Bodegas Vicente Gandiá

Bodegas Vicente Gandiá was founded in 1885 by Vincente Gandia Plá, and is the largest wine producer in the Valencian Community, and is also one of the oldest. Fusta Nova is produced from the best Moscatel de Alejandria grapes sourced from old vines; cultivated in the heat of the sub-zone “Moscatel de Valencia”, under the climatic influence of the Mediterranean Sea.

Wine Making

To produce ‘Fusta Nova’, the best Alexandria Muscatel grapes are selected from established vines cultivated in the heart of the ‘Valencia Muscatel’ sub-region, the climate here governed by its proximity to the Mediterranean Sea. The grapes are picked by hand in the early hours of the morning using strict selection criteria to ensure that none of their natural properties are lost.

Maturation

The wine comes from the free-run juice, obtained with no mechanical pressing, after a short cold maceration to extract the highest aromatic expression from the grapes. The wine is then kept for three months in new French Allier oak casks where the fruity features of the wine combine with the wood.

Tasting Notes

The wine is of a pretty golden yellow colour and translucent appearance. Its bouquet reveals aromas of citrus fruits, sweet rich notes and impeccable toasted wood undertones. It has a pleasant mouth feel, elegant touch and bombastic mid-palate, where acidity and sugars combine harmoniously.

Serving suggestions: Foie gras, asparagus, desserts such as cakes, crepes suzette, pane cotta, fruit cocktails and white chocolate based dishes.

Serving Temperature: Between 8°C and 9°C
