Albariño Condes de Albarei 2009
D.O. Rias Baixas Grape Variety: 100% Albariño Region of Production: Rias Baixas, Galicia, Spain Adega Condes De Albarei
Adega Condes de Albarei is located in the valley known as O Salnès, in the heart of D.O. Rias Baixas, which is considered to be the most prestigious white wine producing region of Spain today. Wine has been produced in the D.O. Rias Baixas for centuries; though its renaissance owes much to the modernization of winemaking that has taken place over the last 15 years.
The Vineyards
Surrounded by mountains and crossed by the Umia River, the vineyards total 375 acres of Albariño, all of which are estate-owned and managed. The climate is the wettest in Spain, averaging 50 inches of rainfall per annum, and also one the coolest of Spain’s D.O.’s. The “pergola” method of trellising is used in order to maximize the sun’s effect on the maturation of the grapes.
Tasting Notes
From the cool “green” coast of Spain’s northwest, Condes de Albarei Albariño is a complex blend of flavours that fits perfectly with the modern lifestyle. Made from 100% Albariño, this wine has rich, vibrant mouth feel with aromas of tropical fruit, citrus and melons, with a juicy, slightly mineral finish.
