2005 Vintage

D. O. Calificada Rioja
Varieties: Tempranillo grapes (100%) of vines older than 50 years.

Tasting notes: Opaque purple with aromas of toasty new oak, pencil lead, espresso, blackberry, and licorice. Full-bodied, layered Rioja with lots of spicy black fruits and a hint of chocolate.A lengthy, pure finish.

Origin of the Grapes:
Vineyard: Proprietary, Los Terreros and Jararte vineyards located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, La Rioja; Average Yield: 26 Hls./Hct. Organic fertilization and strict hand picking of the bunches in perfect conditions of health and maturation. Second selection at the winery by means of a sorting table. Date of Harvest: Beginning in October the 11th 2005.

Vinification:

Traditional elaboration de-stemmed. Skin maceration: 21 days. Daily Pump-overs; energetic in the beginning with diminishing frequency in the final days. Fermented with selected yeast and temperature controlled (23º C, 75.2º F). Malolactic fermentation in barrel.

Aging:
Barrel: 18 months in new oak Bordelaise barrels since November 2005. 50% French oak, 50% American oak. Bottled: June 2007

Presentation:
Bottle: Ancienne Bordelais, 750 mL and 750 grams; Quercia colour, U.V. filtered.
Cork: 54 mm long by 24.5 mm diameter, average density 180 grams. Washed and sterilized. 100% Natural, maximum quality.
Label: Recyclable paper printed with ecological ink (without heavy metals).
