2009 Vintage
DOC: Rioja. Varieties: Tempranillo.
Tasting Notes: Color: Ruby red with light violet in the edges of the glass Aroma: Red fruits (raspberries, blackberries) of nice intensity, coffee, toasted notes and vanilla. Mouth: Well structured, balanced tannins-alcohol-acidity, fresh mature fruit in perfect conjunction with the characteristics of aging (spices, toasted coffee and noble wood). The finish leaves a pleasant memory of lightly toasted notes.
Vineyards: Proprietary vines located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Laguardia. Altitude: 1860ft. Soil: Calcareous clay with gravel. Average yield: 5.200kgrs/ Ha. (39 Hls./Ha.)
Date of Harvest: Last week of September 2006. Hand harvested bunches selected in the vineyard and in the winery by means of a sorting table.
Fermentation: Fermented with selected yeast (Saccharomyces bayanus). Temperature control 27º C (79ºF). Poliphenol and tannins extraction daily controlled.
Maceration: During fermentation (8 days) with two pump-overs daily. After alcoholic fermentation, an extended maceration of 14 days with reduced frequency of pump-overs to avoid the extraction of bitter characters.
Stabilization: Cold stabilized
Aging: 6 months in tank. 6 months in 225 L American and French Oak barrels (age of the barrels: maximum 3-wines per barrel). Winemaker: Marcos Eguren Serving Temperature: between 16 and 18°C (61 and 64°F). Preferred date before the end of 2009
